Kenneth Walker (1882 – 1966) was a British author, urologist and gifted surgeon (he was three times Hunterian Professor of Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons). He studied and practiced the ideas of Gurdjieff from his first meeting in the 1940’s until his death in 1966.
Walker was a prolific author and his Venture with Ideas and A Study of Gurdjieff’s Teaching provide valuable introductions to Gurdjieff’s ideas and the man himself.
Kenneth Walter first met P. D. Ouspensky in 1923 and Gurdjieff in the early 1940s.
Walker also published the book “Meaning and Purpose” – An analysis of the main scientific theories of the last hundred years and their impact upon religious thought and belief, in 1944, aimed at questioning the completeness of “Charles Darwin’s” theory of natural selection and evolution, as well as evaluating the most relevant scientific discoveries at the time of publication and their effect on the general population.
Walker was educated at The Leys School and Caius College, Cambridge.
